1978 Dune Beige (416) FJ40 QUESTION (1 Viewer)

Good Morning,

New to the site and new to the TLC world. I am in the process of ordering paint for a 78 FJ40 that i just purchased. I am a little confused about the color for my particular year. On various sites that i have searched, Dune Beige was not an available color for 1978. Could it be possible to have a 78 in (416)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. From what i have seen 416 was available from 72 - 75. Below is my vin #.

Then order it. Use the code or mix info for an earlier year if need be.

I plan on ordering, I was just more curious as to the discrepancy of the color code with relation to the year.

I'd trust the vehicle info plate before I'd trust the paint company. Just my take on it. Additionally, if you want Dune Beige 416, paint it Dune Beige 416.

Here is my dune beige 1974 FJ40. I painted last year after finishing the rust repairs and replacing the rear sill and quarter panels. Used single stage Nason Ful Cryl II. Formula is on the sticker. My rig turned out just like I wanted. Good luck.

Personally I would start with a sample before buying enough paint to do the whole vehicle. Been a number of threads over the years of people who ordered paint and then were disappointed with the color. Not cheap to paint a FJ40 I would spend a little extra and be sure I was happy with the color rather than just trust a paint code at some paint store.
