This question is for anyone with an hdft motor and the intake heater. What kinda ohm reading is the heater supposed to have? When checking the connection post to ground, it's nearly a dead short, 0.4ohm. I'm wondering if that's a shorted out condition, and why mine makes such an immense draw on the electrical system, or if that's just the way these are built.

Thanks

Its the way they are. They are also prone to the solenoid that switches power to it falling apart and catching fire. The solenoid is mounted under the right hand battery tray, if you don't live in a really cold place take it out.

Yeah, it gets cold here. Never heard it referred to as that before, but I like it.

I think I'm going to leave it disconnected for the summer and put a switch inline with the relay control sometime in the not too distant future, that way I can disable or enable it selectively in the winter. I'm afraid for this alternator's health the way its going right now.
