Trying to install my suspension today
Front worked super easy and are in
Back...wtf
Ok so the conversion kit is on and springs are in but there isn't any clear cut orientation or order for all the washers or spacers for the struts.....plus the foam cells seem to be topped out as in they won't extend far enough for the top nut to go on even w the smaller/thinner factory bushing/spacer
A simple pic would be nice of the setup but any help other than pulling said fuses and a pic of their places is pretty self explanatory...
Did I receive too short of a strut?
Whata the order and I assume the metal sleeve goes on the bottom of the frame.
Called metal tech and they emailed me the of they shipped w the set and i can't get up w anyone thats a specialist.

Driver side w no top bushing yet...barely enough room for nut to start

Wish I could help, went with long-travels in the rears (different brand) but even so getting that top bolt/washer installed was also really tight on mine as well. This was a big job installing all this last December, glad I had a couple buddies pitching in. Just sending some positive vibes your way.....the crew at Metal Tech will hopefully help get you straightened out quickly.

Thanks tlin
Good to know theyre werent so easy for u as well...
I just dont get how ur supposed to get another 1/2" plus out of the strut to get the aftermarket bushing and top nut on...
Reg struts come out of the box also and want to fully extend...these just kind fall back to their happy medium and u literally have to pull on them and then quickly assemble what u can w whats leftover for space

Looks like you got the passenger secured. Did you try using a jack to lift the side of the axle that your working on? If everything is currently disconnected and the truck is at full droop, that may be what’s causing you difficulty.
Now that one side is secured, jack the drivers side of the axle up until you’ve seated the strut.

Thanks tlin

That's exactly what we did when getting my rears installed. I wrestled unsuccessfully with it for a decent time, took a break when my buddy's brother stepped in and quietly went about his business - didn't even really know he was still back there getting after it when he announced "got it!".

Had to see your description before that memory came back to me, this was now 1.5 years ago.

You'll get it..... @joabmc has a good suggestion there as well.

@inovashn where in Cackalacky are you? I'm in the Raleigh area and willing to help, did my suspension some time ago but it's all still fresh in my mind.

Presumably you have the rear springs fully seated on/around the coil conversion disc, with the coil end seated properly?

Foam cells are not like normal shocks. I always put the top in first then use the weight of the truck to hang on it and let it slowly extend down to the axle mount. They dampen on the up and down stroke and are not pressurized, so you can do things a little differently.

Edit: I have even used a jack to shove that SOB up into the top to get a nut on there and then attach the axle. It is pretty simple really once you realize those shocks don't act like normal shocks.
