Right I'm back home again. Time to get into it!

First up I'm getting the interior prepped for painting. Knowing that a lot of paints won't adhere especially well to the bitumenised sound deadening pads, I've given everything a quick sealing coat of 2-pack epoxy primer.

It's been a bit of a slow couplemof weeks. It was siggested that maybe I might like a break from car work... and that suitably therapeutic alternative pastimes may for example include cleaning the gutters, weeding the jungle (garden) and converting the backyard swamp back into a swimming pool. Sigh. The joys of property ownership!

Got the rear heater and handbrake reinstalled.

Painted up the lower windscreen frame so the front screen can go back in today.

Finally got a new oil pressure sender installed. And the guage works for the first time in 5 years!

Oh and a clean swimming pool...

Couldn't find anything new for the rear so I've re-use the original one for now with a chrome infill. I'm on the lookout for a plain black infill strip.
There is a couple vendors on here that sell that black rubber infill strips for all the windows. I got mine from the Mud vendor @reevesci. PM him to see if he still stocks it. Here’s what I got from him that I used on my 60.

So I made a template and drilled the holes for the scoop.

Unfortunately most of the holes didn't fall in especially nice places:

Need to whip up some stand-off brackets

Seeeexy hood! Is that scoop from a newer 7x series?
Yes mate is a fibreglass copy of a VDJ7x series, moulded to fit the 60-series bonnet. I found a guy in Adelaide Australia making them from home and selling on eBay. It's a good quality moulding with nice glass work. Fits perfectly - just the prefitted nutserts weren't in especially good locations. I've managed to work around that though.

Great job so far! I’m scouting places myself in WA for some panel and paint so will check out your recommendation!
I got the paint done at K Paz Automotive Spraypainting and Panelbeating
Karson does excellent work and has a steady stream of rare, high-end and classic cars through his shop. He only knows how to do things properly and to be honest it's probably too flash a paint job for my car. Stoked with the results though!

I'm back! Actually I've been back home a couple of days. First day was sleep... like lots of it. I've been a bit under the weather with a nasty head cold that turned into tonsillitis... and now bronchitis. The joys of the Gobi :(

Anyway in good news I located new-to-me front and rear bars. A bloke in the local 60-group is parting his rig out and I managed to score both. The front is an ARB winch bar and the rear is a Kaymar bar with dual fold-out wheel carriers.

I'm pretty much ready to get into reassembly of the doors. There is a LOT of parts cleaning to do. Gotta start somewhere - so why not with the tailgate.

Gotnthe ultrasonic cleaner in action.

Checked inside the wipwe mechanism. Grease all looks good and clean even after 30 years.

I did find this xraxk in one of the mounting points. Will have to braze that up.

So I was using the Disco to collect the front and rear bars over the weekend. On the way homeme I noticed a slight load-sensitive vibration coming from the front of the chassis, accompanied by a faint squeaking noise.

Yesterday I checked it out. Knowing the Disco 2's penchant for throwing out front driveshafts in many pieces, I had a fair idea of where to look.

I reckon I caught it just in time. Several of the UJ bearing cups were completely dry with the needle rollers fracturing and falling out.

IveI got it all apart and just waiting for a rebuild kit to arrive. Should be back in action by the weekend. I need it to take the bars off for shot blasting and powder coating.
