Cleaning oil pump screen? (1 Viewer)

Changing my oil pan gasket and noticed oil pump screen is pretty black and thick. Anyone have a good safe cleaning method?

Hi, Spray some brake cleaner on it and let it drip off. Mike

Thank you so much, that was my plan and then I stopped and thought maybe it wasn’t a good idea to get that up in there. But I’ll let it drip for a couple days anyway as I’m working on other stuff.

It shouldn't be gummed up at all.
Here's mine after 275,000 miles. Original.
Maybe change your oil type or change it more often in the future.
