Freaking Aussie locker is a pain in the ass to disassemble.

Yes...it's a freaking pita. If you were able to remove it without screwing the super small springs then next time you'll just already have a spare set of springs ready to replace the ones you plan to rip out. Ask me how I know.

Snapped a picture of the light at the end of the tunnel. Luckily, we managed to squeeze back in the guts before it got too late.

Great job guys!

What actually came apart to start the problem?

I have acquired a split transfer case I need to rebuild. I would like to learn how to do it myself. Any volunteer instructors out there? I will go to you.

In Scott's defense, the PO installed a locker but didn't tighten the ring bolts. Crazy but some kind of miss during install. All of them were finger tight vs having the needed Loctite and torq. At some point, one of the bolts backed out / sheared, got banged around, and then was punched out the bottom of the inspection cover. Without it punching through the cover, the whole issue would have gone undiagnosed until one day when (likely at high speed) it would have a catastrophic failure and vomit rear end parts everywhere. As others suggested, we pulled it all out- no way to properly tighten, align, torq, etc. The struggle was getting the locker out so we could get to the C clips on the axles. Unlike a stock set up, there is far less room to work with and the locker is held together with 4 pins. Those pins can be moved if you remove these tiny brass pins. Took us forever to figure out the sequence of disassembly. Like playing with a metal, oily Jenga. What took us 2 hours will be about 15 minutes now that we know how that locker goes in & out @Roxx had a bead on a stock rear third member. We pulled it (much easier since stock), it was good and 4:11 gears, so we plugged it into @tgadd truck in the dark. About 7 total hours of running around chasing tools & parts, head scratching, swearing, prayer to all the gods, and getting lucky. Next time can be much quicker since we aren't total noobs anymore. Hoping there isn't a next time.

what flavor of happiness is that Stan?

That package makes my package all warm and tingly

You guys are way more excited about this than I am.

pure porn...... i've had to hold back from pulling a LSx and starting a build up in a garage... it is so tempting. No clue what i'd put it in at this point... most likely find a SC300 or 400 to swap it down the road.

This one is odd, got coolant on top of the driver's side of the engine, but nowhere else.

Odd coolant leak

Has anyone installed Marlins low range crawler gears in their 80? Normally $799 and they are currently $599. Looking for any feedback
