Hey all,

I’m getting ready to put my transfercase back together but found two very small edge chips in the input gear. I’m not a transmission/transfer case guru so I wanted to bounce it off the collective and get your opinions. Is this safe to run?

If it is - is there anything that should be done to prevent the small chips from becoming big chips?

This is the larger of the two:

And the smaller -

I'd have no issue running that gear, those chips/imperfections are very small. Just make sure the surface is smooth, maybe rub it with a bit of emery cloth and go.

Awesome. I assume all these likes are in agreement - in which case I’ll run it. I figured it was probably alright but as all of this is uncharted territory I figured I’d check.
