So 2200 miles and 5 days later I finally have a fiberglass cap for my 40, I’d been looking for sometime. Big thanks to @4wdds and @SuperDuperCruizer for making it happen! I always love road trips and meeting fellow cruiser heads:beer:

Top is off a 1965 FJ40 plow truck, it only had 30k original miles and was bone stock. Sadly though the 52 winters as a plow truck had caught up with the rear tub and frame. So the old girl is being sacrificed up to keep quite a few other early 40/45s going.

I been driving the old girl around the last few weeks trying to get it dialed in and since I have a top finally I decided to do a quick photo shoot. Here are a few pictures I pulled from the album but I’ll attach a link as well to all the pics. This pretty much wraps up this project for now. Going to start focusing solely on my 45 resto.

Sweet truck JP! Thanks for helping me gather parts for my wagon project.

Are there any parts available from the donor 65 rig? Nice find on the top.

I’m using everything that swaps to the 45lv (mostly drivetrain & pto winch) I believe JP wanted a few bits once I was finished. So, he’ll get first dibs. Otherwise, yes whatever is left will be available & cheap. PM me direct though... I don’t want to highjack the thread.

Sadly it is. Even worse it likely won't be the last one my cruisers I sell in the coming months. Some life changes are making me have to thin out my collection some. It's okay though I get the most joy out of bringing these old girls back from the dead and now this one is good to go with the new owner for years to come.

Well dang. This was a favorite thread because of the brotherhood of our rigs (‘65) and your dedication to the resto. But I understand (maybe ). GLWTS. Paul

Yeah, I am really digging the stock stance and 29's. Rims from Onur were $110 a pop and tires are Power Kings at $93 a pop.

Hi, I know I am responding to an old thread but you mentioned your found the old hubcaps. Do you know what years FJ40's had these and how difficult was it to find a set of these? Love the look of a stock height and stock tire size cruiser, great thread! Thanks, Bryan

the moonie hubcaps were early 60s caps. there have been a few people that have reproduced them

Do the older fj40’s have the color and trim codes on the engine bay build plate and if not, what year did they start doing that? Sorry for posting on an old thread...
