My kids broke a few keys off in ignition switches. That stopped, once I showed them the how to take pressure off the ignition switch steering wheel lock. Is that what's break this/these shafts?

Just reading a little bit of the thread you posted it looks to be a LX problem. I kept reading the auto tilt works, but truck won't start. Do later TLCs get auto tilt?

LX broke but LC has not, so batting 50%

I believe it's in part due to its weak design, because newer parts from Toyota have a beefier shaft.

Just had mine break this morning. First out of three LX's I have owned.

Mine broke last night. 98 lx470. When I called dealership this morning the parts guy said pretty normal.....
