Looks pretty good other than the roof, maybe he could just make a new roof.

Yeah, the pics are making mine look slightly better than what it is. All panels have pin hole rust holes in them. To fix it properly all the panels need to be unstiched and then who knows what rust needs fixing behind them. Thats where Chris at BMV prefered the idea of just remaking one from scratch. Below is a pic of a FJ45V currently being restored in Oz. It started off in way better condition than mine, and when the outer panels were stripped it still had rust underneath. Imagine what mine will be like. (I'll start a new thread on this guys build, its going to be mint)

Hey Twisty, If you are sticking with the 'rest-mod' idea go with the new body and a new chassis. Stick the 45V and it's original chassis in the corner of the shed and do an original restoration at some point when you are old and grey. If you didn't want to spend the coin on a new 45V body and chassis. You could look at doing a FJ55 - still a cool truck and you can still cart the family around. Cheers, Ben
An FJ55 was always a backup vehicle if I never found a 45V, but I don't love them anywhere near as much as I love V's. I had thought of doing as you say with just putting the new body on a modern chassis and than the original one in storage for a time down the track when I have more time and money to do a proper restoration on it.

X2.
You an also have a new 45V body made to fit a 100 chassis. Would be cool.
Yeah, this was a plus of making a new body. Could play with the dimensions a little to suit wider diffs etc.

So, sadly, I've given up on on this project. It went to its new home last weekend, which just happens to be back with its rusty green brother from the start of this thread.

Bummer to hear bit I can understand. It would have probably cost a bunch to fix correctly.

That should be pretty rust free being from the top end
