i can see the 3.7 being a great gearing for the HJ61, better fuel milage, longer legs and lower rpm for a quieter ride and a better top end to boot..

Most of the torque of these diesel motors is made at around the same rpm .The 6 cylinder na diesels and a couple of the turbos are ready to hemorage at 4,000 rpm as the torque drops off.

Go for it mate, remove that 2h and drop that 12ht in, it will be great , I've got same plan for my 47, oh and a 5 speed, 60s power steering etc
