I took delivery this morning on my 2007 GX470 sport (I will add pics once I get it washed), bought it from Ohio, with a lengthy service history. I own an 80 series too, but the first cruiser family vehicle I ever drove was a 2007 Prado, which I had overseas in 2008. The vehicle was great - we drove it hard through the desert and on slightly improved dirt/gravel roads and it went anywhere. Also great on the highway, cruising at 80-90 (that's how fast you have to drive in the Middle East to avoid getting killed in traffic flow) with no issues. I know the GX isn't the Prado, but its close enough for me and I am excited about the build. When I built up my 80, I was so excited that I just started buying stuff, but it wasn't well planned. I am not done building it yet, but suffice it to say, I did things way out of order. The GX is going to be better planned and I am going to do everything I can to go in order. I want to keep it light, ride comfortable, sound upgraded, and look great. Here is the plan I have so far:

Good plan. Join gxor on fb too if you are on fb. Help is plentiful in both places

I prefer the SouthernStyle air to coil kit... slightly more $ but more height options. Actually its on sale right now, 15% off which makes them basically the same price.

Thanks for the feedback, I will have to do some research on what they are all about.

A couple pictures after getting some of the transport grime off...

First issue with the GX - can't get the CD changer to work. I know this seems to be a common issue. It isn't getting any power from what I can see. I changed both radio fuses under the hood and the cigarette lighter fuse in the kick panel. Are there other fuses I should change? I rate this issue as hindrance level, but I would like to play cds if possible. I can load up like 6 classics and use my phone for the rest.

I unplugged mine (it was broken anyway) and put a Grom Bluetooth adapter in today.

It's sooooo much better....

If you have an 07+ and can play mp3 CDs, then it's not so bad.

Which grom unit did you put in?

Which grom unit did you put in?

I have this one: Select Toyota Scion Lexus 02-12 Bluetooth Hands Free Car Adapter Kit

They mention in their FAQ that there can be syncing problems caused by config corruption, and to clear that you need to cycle from Grom (CD input) to FM and back to Grom, then push "scan" a few times until you hear a tone/beep. I couldn't get that to work, then figured out that you have to use the 'Scan' button on the touchscreen, not the physical button on the stereo controls. It works great now.

Painted some trim and badging. Also picked up some Weathertech floorliners. Next, tint front windows and windshield; also thinking about painting inside of headlights. Anyone done this on their GX?

Then start the main parts of the build...

how did you fix those pieces on the bottoms of the seats? both of mine hang down

Those pieces were fixed when I purchased - never checked why they stay like that, but I will look and get back to you.

Put the badging back on...
