Ha, I hate when this happens. I took out the security plug, which looks stock, but cant find the dang CDL switch I bought. I hate buying thins twice. I should be able to tear into the lift, gears and lockers next week...

well, it took almost 6 hours to install the CDL switch, 5.5 hours of that was finding the dang thing. Anyway, sometimes things go well and easy, other times things don't go so well, like today. I was putting in the new rear springs when the truck fell off the jack. Luckily nobody was hurt (not seriously anyway), but if you've ever had it happen, it is scary and can mess stuff up. I tried lifting it with a engine hoist, but ultimately dropped the truck a second time when it flipped. Finally, (after some curse words and feeling like a total idiot for a while) I welded the base plate of my hi lift to a 2x2x3/4 piece of steel so I had a solid base and used a bunch of blocking to get everything sorted out...

time for some real jackstands. Glad you're not dead!

Harbor Freight 6 ton jackstands are plenty stout to hold up an 80. o_O

I kept raising mine and resetting my 6 ton stands because the truck would settle to one side first and shift the weight as I lowered it. So it kept sitting flat on one stand and not on the other. It gives me he heeby jeebies not having them sit flat. Glad you are OK.

I have some great giant jack stands, this was 100% user error aka, stupid head! I am glad I am not dead too. In general we only ask question like "is the truck ok" if people are ok. If people are hurt, who cares about the truck, its just a truck...Anyway, I started working on the front today, took forever to get the bushing pressed out, measured and pressed in, but alas, that is done.

I wasn't super impressed with the instructions with the blue bushings, which indicated each side should be different, one rotated to the front and one rotated to the back? so I turned them in the manner that I thought would push the axle forward a tad. Also, I made the cuts for the washer mod which I will post to that thread tomorrow.

NICE!
Report back once you settle in the springs a bit with the Center hub to bottom of flare measurements please. Also let's us know how it handles & rides.
Thanks.

@Qball check out this @Noahrob 75mm lift in SoCal.

Yup yup, i just need to bleed the brakes, do a test drive then I can weld in the custom washers for my washer mod. If you want to know anything else, just let me know, happy to help.
Here are my super awesome customized washers:)

Well, the results of the first drive are as follows:
1) Ride quality is better - need more testing on more varied terrain, but driving around - Thumbs up
2) Sway and boat like symptoms - none, I did a little swerving and it was good
3) Brakes with the 35's - OMG, I need to do something as it did not stop particularly well before, but now it is just a big rolling tank of doom!
4) Driveshaft vibration - None so far, I am going to do a few more tests today and if the results are the same, weld in the washer mod as it is just bolted on right now.
5) Did I mention the stopping - Unrelated to the lift directly, but lame none the less. Powerstop, DBA, opinions?

As far as brakes... Valley Hybrids is selling the Turf Tammer brand. @NLXTACY showed me his stuff & was impressed. This is my next brake purchase.
