Ok get the sawzall out. Chop everything off at the window line. Install a family cage with a nice canvas top, throw UV scratch resistant polycarbonate windshield and tube doors in it. Add seat heaters and run remote heater vent tubes like on ski boats and you have yourself a Wheeler that you can get crazy in and not fret about damaging it or beating on it. Keep your other cruisers nice.

Exactly.

Time for the chop top as discussed.

Ok get the sawzall out.

Chop everything off at the window line.

Chopping is inevitable, with time in OR planned to commence next week.

It will be enclosed and remain legal, though, in keeping with the long held philosophy that if I can't drive it to wheel, I don't want it.

If/when that changes, I'll tweet like a canary and give Tim Cameron a run for his money.....minus the million dollar diesel pusher/trailer toe rig and GGW film crew attaché.

Don't get rid of it.

You know better than that.

I couldn't sell it as it sits, for what a pristine LX with 130k and come out ahead.

Recycle it and repurpose it.

That's the plan, although an unconventional approach to both.

Install a family cage with a nice canvas top,

Not a wheeling family, so only need two seats for my son and I.

throw UV scratch resistant polycarbonate windshield

OE glass

tube doors in it.

Mebbe a second set of chopped doors with no glass, but will be enclosed for the majority of the time.

Add seat heaters and run remote heater vent tubes like on ski boats and you

Huh?

We have two seasons here, being winter and hell.

Gonna keep AC.

have yourself a Wheeler that you can get crazy in and not fret about damaging it or beating on it.

That's the plan and think attainable, since most of what usually winds up beaten ain't gonna be there.

Keep your other cruisers nice.

I'll take that as a semi-compliment.

Weight bias, front to rear, is too unbalanced for that configuration.

The drivetrain can't move back far enough, nor can the front axle push forward enough to balance.

Only way I see to leverage more on the rear axle is to lengthen the wheel base as much as possible in the front but maintaining PS gearbox and lengthening the rear 10-12".

Creates an issue with break over that, I'm hoping can he rectified with bigger meats and a smooth belly.

Without weight on the rear, there's nothing to force compliance and betting rear traction becomes an issue.

Well you never know when a friend of yours or his will want to ride along!

And you can do the same with the A/C as with the heat. Having a tube from the vent that you can direct makes a huge difference in an open air vehicle. On cold water skiing days putting the tube under your shirt actually made it bearable. lol.

Definitely a compliment you have some great ideas for trucks

Kinda like a motorcycle or a sports car.....

Having a tube from the vent that you can direct into your pants.....

:)

If I'm trailering, it'll be one of those 800HP bird cage buggies with axles capable of 50mph hard landings on 44s.

Fortunately, it's not what I want.

Unfortunately, I've paid my dues in the hellacious elements here and like the comforts of heat/AC and shade.

And the only one I can currently enjoy is one that's been unaffected by creative genius.

That SHOULD be an indicator.....but a glutton for punishment.

You are under the assumption he has friends.

If I had a few of these I might!!

What is the current status?
Did you start any other threads with the other LCs?

What an epic fail.

Agreed.

I found your thread & it took 3 days to read all 93 pages.

Damn.....I'm sorry.

It could be condensed to 5-6 pages if the author didn't type so much.

What is the current status?

Semi-stripped and awaiting repurposing.

Was going to swap drivetrain to the current PP80, but can't kill the FZ that's in it, and I have been driving it like I stole it for +25k.

Did you start any other threads with the other LCs?

Admit to these....
