A 1987 fj60 popped up on CL yesterday and there were a few things that made me think... "this could be my old cruiser"...

Well after a little communication with the seller it turns out its him... His dad bought it new in 1987, in 1991 sold it to the guy who i bought it from in 1995. In 1999 I sold it back to him by complete and sheer coincidence...

I'd love to buy it back but with a baby on the way, a new house i am in the process of renovating and the fact that i own 2 already(1more than most of my family friends even think is logical)... its just not logical.

Here it is if anyone is interested: http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/3199817890.html

It has been well maintained and not driven a ton. it looks like hes put about 20k on the Truck in 13 years. He said its been his 3rd vehicle. Prob for the same reason i would want to own it.. Sentimental reasons.

very cool............and good looking 60
is it really a five speed? or was it when you owned?

Def not a 5spd trans unless he swapped on in but based on our conversation he just had the orig rebuilt.

glad to see its alive, hate that i cant buy it!

It is a 5 speed test drove Tuesday drives ok thinking of getting it but really want a 40

really? it wasnt a 5spd when i owned it. did he put an h55 in it or another transmission?

where is everybody finding all these 5speed lying around to swap out the 4 speeds

He has all paper work from Spector paid a good bit for it

I can answer that were not finding them cheep not even reasonable but they are out there if the coin is right. And I must say that it's the best mod I have ever done in 20+ years of FJ-60 ownership.
