Just got back from turkey hunting and am ready to get back onto the 60. While the SOA to SUA conversion was a big step, I had my friend get off all the old oxidation and this was the conversion I was most excited about. She cleaned up great...
@CruiserTrash O'Reilly's slide hammer pilot bearing attachment. Pulled that race out in two blows. Thanks much. More on the transfer case soon...
Wrapped up the frame weld/grind/coat portion of this refresh earlier this week.

As I mentioned previously- I don’t think the engine itself is overheating.
My guess is it’s a gauge/temperature sender issue related to the change in coolant flow at the rear of the cylinder head when the water valve is opened.
Here's the gauge that I can vouch for

At this point you should install a mechanical temp gauge and using that to determine it’s true temp.
These electronic gauges are not as accurate. I’d recommend an Autometer. On my 87 pickup it was so accurate that I could see when the thermostat...
I welded fine thread grade 8 bolts to scrap metal "arms" because there is no way to get a wrench into the boxed frame
Boltz
Tightened down & welded the nutz onto the boltz, and ran a bead along the frame to limit movement
Painted &...
My knuckle journey continued into the weekend and I was able to get the rotors and new lugs installed on Saturday morning, with the last remaining items being installing the tie rods & plumbing the brake lines. I decided to wait on that as my...
All done, there is like barely enough room in the dash for these switches and the wiring. Need to get the rear glass fixed on my truck. Theres a few breaks in the circuit across the glass i think, so the light doesnt light up for the defroster...
Getting the new AC Bezel finished out and painted. I think this is finally the last time im going to ever do this. Probably could have sanded this one more but it looks good enough
What I have done.
Jack up Cruiser and put jack stands on the frame behind the spring hangers.
Support the axle, remove wheels, etc. Remove u-bolts. Disassemble shackle, remove rear spring pin. Repeat on side 2. Pull out springs. Roll axle out...
I'm hoping to swap my SOA axles for some factory SUA ones out of a FJ62 that I pulled last weekend. I don't know why but for whatever reason I'm overthinking the process and where best to support the frame during the swap.
Right now I see two...
Just read through your build thread. Inspirational is all I can say. Great respect for your commitment to this old girl. Makes me think of the one comment I heard years ago and resonates to this day…” when I’m working on my cruiser it’s actually...
