Is this still happening? It’s been years (probably 14-15!) since I owned a cruiser, went to one meeting and a trail ride out in Crozet and then ended up selling my old 60 due to family needs. Just got back into the life with an ‘02 LC.

I've been having the same problem since it got cold, too. I just put my foot under the throttle and pulled it up and the idle went back to normal. Once the engine bay heats up, the linkage seems to free up. I'm thinking that if we pull the linkage points apart and lube with some good...
I think you may have meant 4lo. If you can't shift into 4hi doing 45mph without grinding, you're doing something wrong. The key is to stay off the gas and the brake, then pull your little shifter on down to engage 4hi. If you do it while coasting, you can shift into 4hi and then back to 2...
