Can someone start their F motor up and do a voltage check for me while it's running? Wondering how much voltage your coils are sending to the distributor?
My '73 FJ40 starts right up and runs perfect for 15-30 minutes or so. If I then shut it down, need to crank it forever to get a re-restart. Run it 30 more minutes and then it's dead. Will crank but not start. It's got a brand new OEM Toyota distributor, points, cap, condenser, and rotor. When it...
Yeah, I thought the same thing and checked that. Doesn't seem to be the problem...connections looked good. As another test, I ran a jumper wire from positive side of battery directly to the coil. That eliminates any switch issues...still will not start.
I think very weak to almost no spark when coil was swapped. It's an F engine with brand new distributor and internals. Carb is also freshly rebuilt by the expert, Jim. C, so fuel couldn't be the issue. Fuel in the sight glass is half full. It's also got a new head gasket, good compression, and...
Started up my '73 FJ over the weekend and drove 5 minutes away to a gas station. Seemed to crank more than usual to start after filling up. Drove another 5 minutes and shut it off. Then I started it again which required even more cranking. Then drove it about 30 minutes, it rain fine. Got to my...
Anyone know if this vacuum line routing looks correct? The yellow arrow points to the vac line that's going to distributor. If that's supposed to go to the carb base plate, then something is wrong.
Anyone have any homemade PS pump bracket pics? What plate thickness have others used? I'm planning on making a mount for a minutruck pump and bolt to my F engine in the original alternator location.
I've decided to fab my own bracket since I can't find one that utilizes a Toyota pump on an F engine. Anyone have any pics or measurements of brackets they've made? What thickness of plate is recommended?
