You are right the rear bearing is smaller od. My Downey input shaft fits so maybe just rebuild 74 case.

yes it has Saginaw power steering and it did handle better in the past. Just replaced the spring bushings and need to replace the tie rod ends soon. that should help some. You guys have some valid points about leaving this one pretty stock as it works well as it is and get another vehicle to go...

I called the local Toyota Dealer today to get OEM u joints for my 78 FJ 40 and not available. Does anyone know where to get OEM or equal quality aftermarket u joints.
