Congrats on the upgrade!
I had 275/70r18s on my stock vehicle for a few days before I threw on the 2700/2722 OME lift this week. They worked fantastic on a stock rig. I had a little bit of rubbing on the KDSS arm on driver's side, no visible rubbing anywhere else. After lifting and adjusting...
How difficult was it to disconnect the fuel filler neck and the other breather lines? I'm gonna be tackling this over the weekend and any tips you have would be awesome.
Nothing too exciting to report on right now. Beginning the disassembly of the front. Found a few strange things that were done during the V8 conversion. When they relocated the battery tray, they cut part of the fender to make a space for one of the tray legs, which seemingly tweaked the bib a...
@M1A1cruiser That's extremely helpful. The hole on the top of the pucks indicated something like that, but my tub is so rusted that there's no sign of those anywhere.
I believe there is a little indent/nipple that holds it in place from the top, but nothing crazy. Probably held in place by a little bit of rust or something.
Here are some pictures to help you.
Those are proper body mounts located underneath the rear sill. You can see those other pucks are just resting there, and are usually sandwiched between the floor panel and frame.
There are no bolts holding those 4 down. There are 6 proper body mounts (with bolts). 2 underneath the rear sill, 2 near the center of the tub (right underneath the fuel filler neck on passenger side, similar location on driver side), and then 2 up front in the floor pans where they begin to...
Totally valid suggestion. The problem is that it isn't just surface rust. After doing a fair bit of grinding I discovered a lot of holes that go all the way through on the quarter panels, wheel wells, ambulance door corner braces (rounded ones for later year tubs), wheel well braces, rear floor...
Reviving this old thing.
A lot has happened in the nearly 3 years since my last update in this thread. I got a new job, relocated elsewhere in Utah (which obviously involved selling our old house, buying a new one), and we had a child somewhere in the middle of all of it. Then covid happened...
Unfortunately hit a little roadblock. While trying to start it the other day, the power randomly cut out. At first I thought it was another grounding issue like I had initially, but a quick look under the hood showed what had really happened. Looks like I'll need a new fusible link.
In the...
Made some great progress over the weekend. After sitting for nearly 20 years, it's alive!
After letting the cylinders soak some more and turning it over by hand to check for any difficult spots, I went ahead and changed the oil and filter. I cranked it with the starter for a little bit to make...
So some updates. I finally got it loaded up and towed it to my house, where it's going to sit on my pad for the foreseeable future.
After getting it to my house, I pulled the plugs and started soaking the cylinders with some marvel mystery oil. After letting it soak for a while, last night I...
Unfortunately that's extremely common these days. Everyone sees the insane auction prices and assumes their rustbuckets are worth far more than they really are.
