I have a '01 landcruiser that sat for awhile. When I turn on the air (or heat) it makes a lot of noise at position 3/4 fan speed, and then sounds like it is going to come out of the firewall when I go to 4/4 speed. I am sure this has been covered, but could someone show me how to search on...

All I know is it was different than normal... my initial reaction was that it was slipping, will get more testing time with it this weekend.

Good idea... it is behaving like that IMO but I checked it and it wasn't. I suppose it is possible it is acting "on" whether it is in the on or off position, but I would assume it would fail "off".

I think what may be happening is that from a standstill the transmission isn't shifting down to 1st gear... but rather trying to start in a higher gear. Is there a solenoid or something that might cause this?

No odd noises, and I mean the "L" on the regular tranny shifter (not the transfer case).

I have taken possession of my fathers 2001 LC. It has been garage kept and has around 115k miles. It is in great condition, and I saved it from my brother taking it to Maine (cars last him about 3 years, max). I have been using it more and more, and today the transmission started slipping...

Are one of the stock bumpers more of a problem than the other one? If I was going to upgrade one, which should I change? In the rear I have the factory trailer hitch.
