I'm not sure if you are running a stock dist. or not, but I'm pretty sure that they have an octane selector (timing dial). It might not give you enough range, but check it out. that marble noise is what I was mentioning about when I said it would rattle under stress if it's too far...

I'd get a buddy to help and some shims of some sort. Lift the top off to get the cage in and put the top back on........shim it up to desired position and mark it for placement. You'll probably want to do this any way just to make sure that you aren't regreting a half a days worth of work out...

on my 78 near stock 2F motor.....it has a coolant line that goes into the intake to either warm it when it is cold or keep it cool when hot........either way there might be a gremlin hiding in there somewhere.
