Thanks everyone for the tips. I ended up replacing the oil pan with the new OEM pan and gasket due to a hole in top of the pan. I figured I'd just replace it instead of trying to repair it and risk it continuing to leak. I didn't think the...
Early FJ40 patina bib lights and an inside rear view mirror arm.
I did get one or both of the lights to work, so they aren't corroded or damaged beyond repair, but are weary. A few missing light face screws from one unit. See photos.
$30 +...
They’re not junk. They just don’t last quite as long as the original because the chrome plating is very thin. But they are relatively inexpensive. So so what.
I’d rather have a new aftermarket grill that looks fantastic than a painted grill...
@Carlp336 - My '78 2F plugs looked like that when the valve stem seals were shot. The plugs cleared up after seal replacement. Your buildup was very fast and heavy for the miles driven, however. Also check the PCV valve to be sure you're not...
HI
I have the same problem and after 60 hrs + of research, I will share my nightmare with you and everyone to help ease the pain and frustration. Suprarx7nut is correct on the Voltage specs for the pressure switch leads
Approx 5V at pin 1 of...
After doing as much as I could and not being that great at electrical I took the LX into the shop as I needed the A/C compressor looked at anyway as it was getting warm again and my son doesn't understand rolling down windows like I do every day...
I could not find a shop in my town/county of 500K people that had the time or interest to rebuild mine. They can't get parts, they don't have the expertise, and they are too busy with the junk made by the Big 3 automakers. If you find a shop that...
You have put a ton of work into this. Can you find an independent Toyota shop in your area where you can bring it and bounce ideas off them? It's unlikely a dealer visit would help. Have your replaced the coils with only either OEM or Denso-brand...
That is ultra lame. I haven't seen an OEM new brown dash pad in 10 years of casually looking, so the likelihood of them having one is about zero. Turns out, it's less than zero.
2) The dreaded fender flare fade is starting to appear above my wheel wells. This destroyed the look of my 05 4Runner and I’m looking for the best way to slow its progression on my GX. Polish, wax, ceramic coat, etc? Any ideas/thoughts would be...
When you make a commitment before the first motor locks up and you still have to follow through for the 2 oldest kids auto club you show up. Even though she came on the hook she still came.
@albertliang3 - Google this. Many Toyotas do it, and the cause isn't super obvious. It's your stability control falsely kicking in. Some attribute it to loose wheel bearings, and some to bad sensors. Few have found a simple solution.
Resistance after hub flange installed on wheel bearing hub, is expected. Even with TC in N. A little more on one side or the other, if okay. This is not an indications of wheel bearings pre-load.
You did not set wheel bearing preload, which is...
This is a 1982 FJ60 carburetor that has had the jets removed. I was present when it was taken off the truck, and watched another guy carefully remove the jets for a project. It is otherwise complete, as seen in the photos. Lots of great parts, or...
I vote to leave it stock until your usage dictates otherwise. My '99 LX will go anywhere I want it to (in Colorado mountains), and then some. My '99 LX just turned 325K a while back and it's going strong.
Yup. Although I could see Toyota mechanics never dealing with AHC in their careers. But if they have 30 years experience, they should have someone to call for advice or the dignity to stop what they’re doing and throw the towel in.
