This was a better result than when I resealed the oil pan... in the process of lifting the engine a bit, the little fitting on the radiator snapped off and the heater valve broke. :( Just means I shouldn't have the top of my radiator explode or the heater valve break (it was already leaking) at...

Based on what I learned here, I did some more searching. I understand what's happening it is now. I just barely touched that darn thing in the process of replacing my valve cover gasket and it snapped off. I guess that's to be expected after 25 years and 320k miles.

The part number search looks like the right thing, but "gas filter", that doesn't make sense. there isn't any fuel at that point in the intake. I'll order the part.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. But I can probably buy one cheaper than it will cost in gas to go to South Austin twice in my 80 series o_O

I am trying to see if a friend's abandoned 40 series has a seized engine, but I need a 46mm socket to see if I can get the engine to turn. Anyone in The CP/L area have one I can borrow for a few hours? thanks

By the way, the extra pulley is to drive the A/C compressor. The A/C does complicate the engine compartment.
