It's the Frame Number- FJ800050982
Texas will let you register it, but you have to go into the county for registration and renewal as the computer shows it is not a proper VIN.
And you have the 3FE motor...and A440 transmission, if they are original to the vehicle.
The 3FE was used in the FJ62...
I have this model in Xena. It fits nicely in the dash and only uses one din slot. The screen tilts which allows me to view google maps and gaia while I am driving much better than the previous double din screen. It doesn't really block anything on the dash. Android Auto works great, just...
I have an HDJ81 and buy a lot of parts from partsouq. https://partsouq.com/ You can enter your VIN and it will provide specific parts lists for your vehicle.
I also grab the part numbers from partsouq and search for US based parts. Prices are comparable and shipping is usually faster from Dubai...
Glad I saw this thread even though I missed it a year back. I've got a sibling HDJ81 "Xena" that is also running great. Great to hear of another out and about.

I have discussed every one of my vehicle suspension setups with Cruiser Outfitters (at least 8 different vehicles). They are always spot on with recommendations based on the specific vehicle and how it was going to be used!
Here is the latest-HDJ81 with OME heavy springs.
I have been running 255/85R16 tires for over 10 years and lots of miles throughout the western US (Eastern CA, Nevada, Southeastern Oregon, Utah, Arizona). I have found they are a good choice for on and off road travel to include rocks and desert driving. I run at 35-40 psi on pavement and air...
I went with the 850J springs in front as recommended by Cruiser Outfitters because of the diesel engine (and I added bumper and winch). I'm within 1/2" of level and about 3.5" from my old factory springs. Maybe give them a call?
Most relocate their license plate to the swingouts anyway so not an issue (as seen on Dingo):
For extra fuel I use NATO 20l cans and super siphon. The NATO can has the best seal I've used and I am comfortable with it inside the cabin or strapped flat on top of the roof. I make a practice...
I've added the 4x4 Labs bumper to Xena, our HDJ81. I built the kit and raptor lined it.
If you ordered the kit, you could customize the length of the left swingout. Otherwise, I think the factory carrier might impact the regular swingout length. One of the reasons I ended up with the HDJ was...
I went down this road before without success. Here's what I learned:
Unless the gasoline powered vehicle (1976 and newer) is converted, certified and tested to meet both EPA and California Air Resource Board (CARB) you won't be able to register it in California. There are a couple of companies...
