It’s here! My “new” 468000 mile ‘06 gx470 build and troubleshooting thread

This has worked like a charm on my son‘s 04 GX470. It’s been about 2 years now and no CEL since I did his.

Wow thanks for sharing the tip on taking that bypass pipe out, makes the starter bolt look easy to access!

With regards to the ebrake-there’s a good chance it just needs to be cleaned and WD-40 sprayed inside. I had this issue on my son‘s 2004 with “only” 315,000 miles now. I opened up the leather boot and used a pick to clean out The orange goop in the parking brake gears. Sprayed wd-40 and moved...

Procedure for replacing 100 series(98 and up) starter contacts

Wow thank you for those tips! The cutting of the hose sound like a good trick. Are these 2 water pipes what I would need to disconnect at the back?

Procedure for replacing 100 series(98 and up) starter contacts

Hi everyone this is Chris, the originator of this thread. I no longer own my 99 LC, but I now own 2 Lexus GX470’s (2004 and 2008). I just bought the 2004 for my son who will soon be turning 16. Lol I still remember typing this DIY very late at night because my wife and I were sleeping in shifts...

    Factory grey wheel finish "shiny"

Now that you say that, it kind of does. It appears as though the green is from the reflection of the grassy highway median. Btw that was the worst traffic jam I have ever been in. 3 hours to go 3 miles-crossing over into Canada to watch last years Women's World Cup soccer match. The old beast...

Difference between all black and stock.

Your truck would probably look even better if you simply had the gray trim color matched Green like the rest of the truck, and keep your wheels as is. I had my gray match painted black and I feel like it makes the rig look more modern. Just my opinion.

(Likely) Slow and Steady 99 Family(ish) Cruiser Build

Very nice! Consider having your leather restored instead of replaced to save yourself some $$$. I had mine done 3 or 4 years ago on my '99 and the seats still look great. These are amazing rigs and '99 seems to be an extra stellar year for reliability it seems.

Okay the front Bumper cover is made out of cheese, but I don't want a dark vader

I would suggest buying a used bumper off of ebay. And consider having your bumpers color matched to the rest of the car to look more modern. That way you can buy a bumper that is straight but has paint defects or damage. Here is a pic of mine with monochromatic black paint scheme. Looks much...

    Door Lock Actuator Replacement

I just replaced the actuator on my '99. Mine required the motor with the brass collar. I had to take a slightly different approach to putting the actuator back together. My JB weld job broke apart in just 2 days. So I drilled holes in 4 strategic spots and put screws and nuts on 3 of the spots...

New to the 100 club, and loving it...

Very nice rig. Looks to be in great condition! I understand the sentiment of selling the beloved old vehicles that you've had for a long time. I often think about selling my '99 LC for something newer, but just can't pull the trigger since I've had it 14 years, and is still a nice truck.

    Replace Antenna

Fwiw I had no luck with the eBay masts. I think mine made it 6 months or so before breaking. Oem was much more expensive but has lasted about 10 years now. Might have just been bad luck in this case, but thought it was worth mentioning.
