Hey, all - I was going crazy trying to find a smog pump for my ‘87 FJ60. Seems they’re mostly rebuilt by a company called Cardone, but the rebuild I received wasn’t correctly configured in terms of the 90 degree input/output pipes. I stumbled upon a company that said they’d rebuild my...
Really appreciate the advice. Sounds like removal is more of a pain than rust treatment & rehab. Good to know such professional advice exists. Cruise on!
Thinking about removing the drip rails on my FJ60 when I repaint it, because they promote rusting. Anyone do this, or have comments why it shouldn’t be done?
Do any of you California FJ60 owners have any advice as to whether our rigs would pass a smog test with a K&N air filter system? It's easy enough to swap out with OEM, if necessary. Does the system make a noticeable difference?
Alright mates. Got my new used headlight washer check valve from cruiserparts.net and installed it. BINGO! I've got my headlight shower back. Now I see that the reservoir is leaking where the pump enters the reservoir. The rubber washer is the culprit. Anyone have one to sell? Should I just...
Another member indicated that Porsche also has such a valve for about $8. The photos on Google look very similar to the Toyota part, but may need a little jerry-rigging. I didn't want to deal with that, though, and spent the $25 just to get it done. I'll let you know how the used valve works...
Coincidentally, I just dealt with this issue this past weekend. The Toyota part number is 85031–30020. If you Google that part number, you'll find plenty of Toyota dealers that sell the item for $35. I just bought a used one from cruiserparts.net for $15 plus $10 shipping.
Thanks, buddy! You put an original 2F in, or go Chevy? If Chevy, I hope you're not expecting it to buck the Blue Book trend that this is one of the few vehicles that increase in value if in OEM shape!
But there must be some root reason that happens. Surely, when the truck was new, that probably didn't happen. I bought mine when it was 10 years old, so I can't be sure. It's just an annoyance, that's all.
Whenever I don't use my '87 FJ60 for a few days, it's really hard to get started. I've got a pump on the gas pedal and turn the starter over several times. Anybody else experiencing this? What is it, and what's the fix? Fuel lines? Carburetor? Faulty gas cap? Seems like every mechanic...
