i bought this cruiser when it was almost new (in 1987). It was pretty much my first car. That's when i was in my 20's and now i'm in my 50's and it's time to make room in the drive. I have a writeup of it here
1985 Toyota Land Cruiser Wagon (FJ 60)
The engine was one my mechanic said was in...
Back in 07 i put a Chevy V8 in my FJ60. I bought many of the parts from Downey including the front motor mounts. Well i just had one bite the dust and i notice that Downey is no longer in business. Any suggestions?
Manuchao -- i think 'midnight series' just refers to the color. there's a bunch that fit that xmission but they differ on mounting style. do you know is yours is (a) cable mounted (b) mounted directly to the bell housing or (c) mounted to the floor of the truck?
i'm looking at the Lokar web site. Can you guys that put this shifter in tell me which model/part number and length you used? I've got a 4l60e transmission
I just replaced the stock chrome rims and tires after installing an OME lift. The rims are in good shape and if you are interesed i can send you a picture of them (though it'll probably be this weekend).
Make offer if interested.

thanks everyone. i talked to Jim at Downey a couple times, have read various posts and went ahead and bought the parts from Downey -- should arrive soon. Luckily the guy that's doing my swap for me has a ton of experience, and has worked on this cruiser since i've owned it...about 20 years now...
OK...another question, hopefully buying it in this post will not hide it too much.
Shifter. What are the recommendations? I see that Summit racing has something that may work but not sure what other options are out there...

thanks. ive got Downey's catalog and looked through the web site some and i didn't notice any mention of needing to modify the drive shaft lengths ... at least not that i can recall for this particular engine/transmission swap. I did notice that some combinations did. i know that...
iaintscared1969...nice work. Do you have any thoughts on whether the stock radiator is OK? The one i have is actually fairly new...the OEM one began leaking so i replaced it with an aftermarket one. Do folks often have issues keeping the V8 cool.
what i have now is a stock belt driven fan...
