    For Sale 1997 LX450 - Whitefish, MT

I like it. It is an older style with 2 buttons to open it and only hinged on one side. Has held up well. Thank you!

    For Sale  1997 LX450 - Whitefish, MT

****** SOLD ****** Selling my 97 LX450 - Not Locked I'm the second owner. Bought it about 7 years ago in Texas with 115k miles. Carfax was clean and showed one prior owner and had been in Texas it's whole life. Partial service history through Carfax and Lexus showed regular maintenance...

    Towing with an FZJ

Was on a soft gravel ramp this weekend. Trailer tires dug in to almost the axle on the way in. Friends we were with had seen vehicles unable to pull their boats out there with out getting strapped to another vehicle. Put the LX in 4 low to pull the boat out. Pulled up the ramp just off idle...

    Towing with an FZJ

I do not. My cooling system was refreshed a couple years ago. New rad, modded fan, water pump, hoses, etc. I also drain/fill the trans every 2 years.

Whitebird. That one slowed us down to about 45.

    Towing with an FZJ

I did a lot of reading on here about towing and never found a really good thread about what these rigs can comfortably tow. I read posts that said to never tow with one because it can't get out of it's own way, to people who towed 10k ++ lbs. I'm sharing my experiences to help anyone searching...

    Pacific Blue Perfection!

Thanks for the info. We are looking at a 20' Malibu ski boat which would weigh a similar amount. Glad to hear the 4.7 pulls it no problem. My 80 series struggles a bit pulling our 2500lb pop up camper.

    Pacific Blue Perfection!

Nice score! What boat are you towing? We're buying a boat this summer. That has me considering a 100 or 120 for the increased towing capacity of my 80 series.

how to price a restored 80

I don't think a SC will compensate for an 8k trailer and a full load. Sounds like a 3/4 ton Suburban/truck is in your future.

how to price a restored 80

Sounds like you recently bought it? You must have some idea of the market then. Painting the hood and re-doing the seats aren't going to affect value much. No maintenance records are going to hurt a lot. As has been said $6-$8k for clean, higher mileage trucks is about right. If the...

    Holiday Brake Pad Failure

 That is my thinking. I have another car I drive in the summer. That makes it easy to have the LX down for a few days to have the rotors turned, check axle seals, etc.

    Holiday Brake Pad Failure

Yes, rotors will need to be turned. I don't have time now, pad replacement got it back on the road.

    Holiday Brake Pad Failure

In-Laws where here for the Holidays and used my LX. No issues reported. When I take the truck for a drive after they left there is a horrible grinding noise when applying the brakes. Take the wheels off and found the friction material had separated from the backing on the RF inner pad...

    Rust proofing with cosmoline

Nice. After a bunch of research I decided on FF as well. Bought the starter kit on Amazon. They say 1 gal should be enough to do 2 vehicles. I'm hoping that is true and it will be sufficient for my LX and the Wife's Forester. Planning on doing this every fall. At roughly $40 per gallon...
