Hi All,
As most of you have heard, I will be moving out of da 'burgh soon for a job in California. As it turns out, there will be some things that I won't be able to move across the country... things like, say, my booze...
So, for those willing to "lend a hand" by making some of this...
1: Think about what pedal feel you prefer and buy 7/8" or 1" M/C accordingly. I prefer a firm pedal, so I bought a new (reman) master cylinder (NAPA TSM111722 Price:$42.99 Core:$2.00) 75 FJ40 1" bore, 10mm x 1.0 fittings... it was the OEM (Aisin IIRC?). If money is a concern, I may have an old...
Will it fit a modern head unit? (Can't quite tell from the pix.)
What are the internal dimensions (height and depth), and maybe the external flange (length & width)?
Also, does it mount in either orientation (can head unit go in either way), top mount or bottom mount?
Trying to determine how...
I'm not to great with these myself, but I'll throw out some guesses...
Maybe choke activating? (bad spring)
Maybe starving for fuel intermittently? (line or filter clog or bad fuel solenoid or wiring to it)
Maybe vacuum leak? (hoses or carb base or manifold) propane or carb cleaner to...
Ahh and the slippery slope of upgrade madness begins.
I remember the first time i went out stock, with four mis-adjusted, worn, wet drum brakes...
slid backwards down a hill (more like rolled), into a tree, whilst tearing my seatback wide open putting so much force on the pedal... I now...
Windshield in a buggy?
I keep mine folded down the majority of the time on the trail to minimize chance of breakage (though i'll admit i'm happy to have it (up) when following others on dusty fire roads).
How'd the FJ work otherwise? Any other necessary debug/mods?
Bet it was a little soup-ey...
Hopefully since the 4Runner is "in rehab for 6 months" it didn't get you into much trouble.
I had a great time: perfect day, good wheelin, and a nice drive around the lake afterwards in the '40 :steer: ... oh btw I got it inspected on Saturday :bounce2:
Here's a coupla quick pix...

Plans are made: I'm in...
cJ (cousin Jerry) is coming too with his blue TJ (35's gears & lockers) that you saw @ Doe Valley two weekends ago.
I will be coming from Johnstown this time, so we'll meet you up there. This will be my first time there; cJ's 2nd.
You wanna suggest a time & place...
