G'day John,
Not sure if anyone has posted this site up yet, but it has some good information on 13BT swaps. I have a line on a 14 Bt, and I am thinking pretty seriously about doing the swap to my 84 FJ40 LX. If I do, I will keep you posted.

G'day,
This is a rig which was for sale here in Adelaide a while ago, and the owner told me that a 'Seppo' bought it (Aussie for an American). I thought I would post it here, and see if anyone knows who bought it.
Cheers,
Josh
The add says it was made in Feb 84, so it would be able to be imported after Feb 09 I think. I don't think there would be any difference in shipping roro between a 40 and a 47, as the dimensions they give are a maximum size. I've only shipped troopies, but the last one I shipped was $2600 Roro...
G'day Dan,
Years ago when I was a flight instructor, I was the tail wheel instructor because I was the only one with enough tailwheel time to qualify on the insurance as an instructor. We used to call the guys who came in for their endorsement JC students, because they all thought that...
G'day John and Dan,
Glad to hear all is well. I've had to bide my time pouring over Dan's Blue Mule in the mean time:). Given I sold my Stinson 108-3, and I can't fly on my US ATP in Australia, I feel a certain kinship with you Dan.
Cheers,
Josh
G'day Budgie,
Well, if you want to keep a V8, then you are stuck where you are. The GM 6.5 litre is an option, but spendy, as you say. There is an outfit in Qld that specialises in the conversion, perhaps they would be a good place to get an affordable engine on its own.
Fuel injection on...
G'day John,
Can you start the engine as it is? If so, then drain the oil and re-fill. Next, pull the plugs and take a squiz in the plug holes- just to make sure there is not water in there. Then fire it up and let it get to temp. Let it run for 5 minutes or so, and all of the water will...
Mexico never got the Land Cruiser at all, so you would have to go to Guatemala for the closest rigs to the south. Plenty of good quality ones coming in from Australia, though. If you watch Ebay.com.au regularly, you will come across some very nice ones which you can ship to the US for around...
G'day Budgie,
I'm guessing by your name and your vocabulary that you are in Australia. That being so, a Chevy/Holden may be more expensive than a 1HD would be. You will find that, even though gas is only $.66/litre, you will still use more-than 3 times as much gas as you will diesel. So, if...
Merbesfield,
I know what you mean about the RHD, but I must say that I find them more comfortable than the LHD. I am 6'6", and driving a LHD 40 series is difficult for me at-best with a factory-sized steering wheel. I really can't drive a pre-81 FJ40, as the seats don't recline. On my 1983...
G'day all,
I found a 14 Bt/5 speed/transfer case with an air con and power steering pump included. The combo comes out of a Japanese vehicle with 60,000 kms. I am thinking about pulling the drive drain from my 7/84 FJ40 LX with factory power steering, factory air con and factory 5 speed...
G'day again,
I found the snap of the extra door that is added by the place in Qld. There is also a 4 door HJ75 pickup running around town here, but I have not been able to get a photo of it.
Cheers,
Josh
Merbesfield,
Your photochop is what I have wanted for a long time. There is an outfit in Queensland that does that to the HJ77/8/9, but I've never seen one on a 45/7. I have measured it on my troopie, and it is certainly do-able (although well beyond my ability as a welder). If you can find...
G'day John,
I get similar fuel economy with my Vortec 350/H55F/3:73/33X10.50X15 as I did with my turbocharged 2H/H55F/3:73/265X75X16. They don't need to be petrol pigs, just because they are no longer diesel. If I keep my troopie at 60-65 MPH, I get in the low 20s. She will very comfortably...
