One issue I have been having though, it is CHEWING through the speedo gears. The gauge is new. The cable is new. It's not kinked anywhere. But it's just stripping the teeth off the speedo gears? Anyone got any suggestions on why it might be doing this?

In Al Dhaid it's pretty easy. But mostly for the later model year stuff. The early 60's style turn signal lights for example are not available. I'll be ordering those from the US :)

It really depends on the end goal - did you buy this to restore and sell, or to keep? Given your wife surprised you with it, I get the impression you'll be hanging on to it for as long as possible :) Personally - I say treat it how you would if you'd bought it new, and looking at your signature...

When my clutch cylinders went bad, had to use this trick... so it's good to practice but I definitely don't do it all the time. Cool trick with 4x4's, in low ratio with the FJ's low idle rpms and low gearing you can drop it in to gear when the engine's idling and you'll take off without any...
