New FJ45 project - couple of questions

That's awesome that the #'s are only 6 apart! They may have been on the production line together with the numbers being so close. I'd definitely be interested in seeing some pics of the bed you have. I always figured that was going to be the hardest thing to source parts wise. Turns out...

New FJ45 project - couple of questions

Thanks for the info! I thought it was a 63 as well, but the model# said 65 and it is titled as a 65. Does anyone know why Toyota did this? The frame # seems low like a 62 as well, but obviously doesn't have a "2" in front of it. The good news is the engine body and frame #'s match. After...

New FJ45 project - couple of questions

Howdy all, been a long time since I posted on the board. I sold my FJ40 project many years back and have been itching to get into another resto, and viola, a FJ45 falls in my lap! It's a 1965 FJ45LP, SWB, fixed cab and comes with a spare SWB frame with axles, suspension, wheels, steering...

for sale: 89 FJ62 with blown engine

Mule, The Ltb's are great offroad tires, and excellent in the snow. They shed em like a champ! I prefer a narrow tall tire b/c they get in a dig alot better than wide floaters. The narrow tire handles well on the road. They definitley howl a bit and you can hear the gas being guzzled...

Thanks Tucker. I have a ton of medical bills that need to get paid.. its unfortunate, I love my cruiser.. I just wish the chick that hit me had insurance.. got to love a system where you are the victim and end up paying out the tail and selling your toys to stay afloat.. all she got was a...

Looking for a weather cover for an fj40

tarps are nice and all, but the raingear stuff even comes in a nice cinch/sack like a stuffed sleeping bag when you pack it up.. its great to be able to drive to work with no top on, see some heavy rain clouds rolling in, grab the top out of the bag and have it tied down in about three minutes...

Looking for a weather cover for an fj40

Bayarea, I used to have the same cover for my CJ5, and it ruled! 100% waterproof, and it fit over the soft doors and a bikini top if you had some serious rain coming w/ no softop! I wish Raingear made something for Cruisers, they even had little plastic clips to attach and cinch to the frame...

    Adjusting Steering? Help?

My steering had all sorts of play in it when I started trying to work through it.. I started with the steering box adjustement and tie-rod ends, then the center arm rebuild, then the pitman arm adjustents, then I had to replace the steering box completely because the seals had blown and all the...

    Idler pulley for water pump

I have no smog on my 76 2F and removed the A/C that was on it and I currently run one belt (dual crank pulley) to the water pump, then to the alternator (on the passenger side of the moter) and use the tensioner on the alternator to elimiate slack in the belt. I guess I am confused b/c I dont...

    Downey-offroad torque cam

I read somewhere that the lift on those is fairly extreme and requires beefier valve springs to keep from causing damage.. Downey's cam is a re-grind of a factory cam if I remember correctly. You may want to look at RV grind cams that use a factory billet.. these put less strain on the valvetrain.

    Replacement Starter

Ive got a bosch gear reduction starter in mine and love it. Waay more torque. You can actually drive the truck out of precarious stalled situations with the starter. Mike

Just for reference, the haynes manual has it backwards.. learned that the hard way and had to pull the drum. Mike
