What's the FSM?

My FJ62 is having difficulties starting when it’s cold outside. It usually takes numerous attempts to start it, and when it does start it runs rough until warmed up. I removed and cleaned the cold start injector a couple of months ago (which helped at that time). Once we get the truck started...

We finally got around to changing the alternator, and now its working perfect. I can’t complain since it looked like the original unit (well over 200,000 miles). Thanks for all of the info you guys provided. This is now going to be my 16 year son’s daily driver.

I bought one at the local CARQUEST this week. It’s a Bosch brand and the price was right, even before the core charge. I plan on installing it this weekend, if the rain ever decides to let up in the mid-Atlantic area.

Yea, the sad thing is I had the entire front end of this engine off last year when I replaced the water pump and radiator. If I only knew then..... I'm going to start looking at prices for alternators today.

I'm looking at the wiring diagrahm for this circuit and hte BRAKE light and Battery (charge) light share in common the Charge Light Relay. And I'm hearing some buzzing when th elights are flickering from ubderneath the passenger side dash. So, I'm trying to figure out where this relay is now.

On to my next repair.. On my 1988 FJ62 the red BRAKE and the red Battery lights come at the same time. When I'm driving and and acclerating these two lights go out, but as soon as I slow down they both start to flicker and then stay on. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm asking becuase...

I removed and cleaned the CSI today. It was totally caked in black crud. I hope this isn't an indication of some other problem..... I reinstalled the CSI after cleaning it, and now it starts on the firts attemp. Thank you for the help.

Awesome, I followed this procedure and now my FJ62 is starting on the first attemp. When I pulled the CSI out it was totally caked in black crud. I cleaned and now it works as advertised. Thank you.

John That sounds like a real place to look firts. Excuse my ignorance. Can you tell me where this component is located?
