Here's a quick update as not much has really changed on the truck.
A pic by a bonfire:
And the latest project that's taking most of my tinker time:
After a few months i was able to do this:
Its a work in progress but its proven useful...
FYI... baton will be getting passed on to @Mesa Woman and @mesa man in less than two weeks... April 26/27. We are meeting up in the Escudilla Wilderness for a brief camp, some hiking, and of course a handoff of the briefcase/baton.

Rite of Passage Part 2-The Crucible
It wasn’t long after I demonstrated that I could produce a piece of jewelry to my father that my grandfather decided it was HIS turn to school me in old-school jewelry-making.
He had my father melt a lump of...
In the meantime, I have been very busy juggling three different construction projects simultaneously. In yet another amazing piece of karma, the time and energy that remain for running Mark’s Off Road now seems to be perfectly matched to the...
I'd love to pass that one off if it gets close, the one that started it all. We met and passed off the red toolbox in Washington State a few years back and it headed east in a Troopy.

Our memorial weekend gathering was interesting, to say the least. It marked the first time that the core of the tribe had gathered without restrictions since 2020. As I predicted to my friend Wayne in April of 2020, the pandemic was the...
Another month. Our anniversary party was a huge success. Several of our friends commented that it was magical. Couldn’t ask for more than that. Three days of music and laughter, capped in part by two people who met again for the first time in 25...
In the post-pandemic world, the absence of many of my old friends from the event underscored for me how another corner had been turned, and that it was high time for me to think some more about moving on with things.
After a lot of soul...
