UPDATE: Quarantine project - Birf reseal, missing snap-rings on axle

Update: Finally got it all done. Was working on it a little at a time, between helping with kids being home and everything else that is happening. When I bought the rig, the PO gave me a box full of extras. I decided to look thru it, and in there was a Ziploc with the original drove plates, and...

UPDATE: Quarantine project - Birf reseal, missing snap-rings on axle

I actually went and got my calipers, along with some other tools I needed, from work this afternoon. Since we are temporarily shut down, I had to wait until someone was gonna be there. If I can't find the O.E. snaps reasonably, I'll see what I can come up with.

UPDATE: Quarantine project - Birf reseal, missing snap-rings on axle

Hi all. Taking advantage of the "staycation" to get some work done. My Birfs have been leaking, so taking on the reseal. It's my first time, but got the drivers side all apart yesterday, between other duties with kids and what not, and all came apart yesterday. I just bought my 80 in October...

Back to Cruisers after a long hiatus

Thanks! It is a 4 ft Francis. I did a quick hasty CB install 2 nights before that run. Lol. I mounted it there for now, just cuz there was already a hole there. Haha. But honestly, at least the one use I have had with it, worked well!

Back to Cruisers after a long hiatus

And thank you. Had some clear coat peel in the top of the fender, and just starting to pop at the tops of the doors, just below the windows. So took it in and had a 1/2 vinyl wrap done, from the body line up, in matte gray metallic. It came out pretty sharp.

Back to Cruisers after a long hiatus

He did. He is active duty USCG. Nice guy from Texas. He had just purchased it out of Portland earlier in the year. Was doing some work to it, planning a trip to Moab. Then family plans changed and he had to sell it.

Back to Cruisers after a long hiatus

Hi all! At one time I was pretty active on this site. I had an FJ62 for several years, that I loved and wish I never sold. I sold it in 2011 to pool resources together to buy a house. In the time, I bought said house, had a child (now 4.5), sold that house and moved to Montana. Loved it there...

Cibie H1/H4 set, New in Box

Yep. New in the box. Bought them for the old 62. Had them sitting around awhile now. Never got around to getting harness to install them. Now, with some sadness, I admit I have sold the rig. Includes a set of Osram H1 bulbs. You will need to get bulbs for the H4's. Would like to get $200 out of...

This thing right here - Don't pull it out

It was not put in there intentionally, However, I had no tranny fluid in the transfer case when I drained it. I am aware of the output shaft seal problem, but it did not start draining out of the TC until after I pulled the shaft a few inches. And someone, please tell me I'm not the only one...

This thing right here - Don't pull it out

I was simply trying to seal up some transfer case leaks, and was told (not by anyone here) that I could pull it out to seal the o-ring. Turns out that info was false. The transmission fluid started draining out of the TC, and it now won't go back in. Turns out it's some sort of idler shaft...

    Tire rotation for BFG ATs

I just do the front to rear swap. I have found, at least with my Destination MT's, that by changing the direction of the tires rotation by cross rotating, it makes them dreadfully loud, at least for awhile.

    ethanol in my fuel

I've never heard of any additive that will "get rid" of the ethanol. If there was such a thing, the inventor would be a billionaire by now. There are additives that help to stabilize the ethanol, to help phase seperation and water absobtion, etc. Likewise, I wouldn't think that the ethanol has...

    Need break help 89 FJ62

I just got done fighting a very similar issue in my 62, and agree with the previous posts. The pedal softens up after you start the engine due to the vacuum assist. I just rebuilt my entire back brakes and did a full system flush (along with new front pads a little over a month ago) and after...

    Brake Master cylinder question, FJ62

Need to replace my brake master cylinder. I'm curious, I intend on doing the 4Runner caliper swap in the not too distant future, but for now still have all stock brakes, with fresh pads in front, and just completely rebuilt the rears. Would it be worth it, and can I, install the larger T100 MC...

    Best Dog Food

My 7 year old Am. Staff. has been on the Kirkland most of her life. When she was young, she, for whatever reason, had a very sensitive stomach, and would get the runs sometimes to the point of not being able to control it. I took her to the vet and had her checked out, and they found nothing...
