It sounds like you're on the right path. Craig (the machinist) is a good guy, the owner of 2 FJ40's and is a cruiser enthusiast. You will not only get your parts quickly, but he will remake them for you if your application is dimensionally challenged.
Craig told me last week that he also...
hinge bushings
I'm running these. Much better than the plastic ones.

Good luck
I installed my Aqualu tub three years ago and remain very pleased. The tub simulates the original body lines very well and it was a near perfect fit. The hard top also fit without issues and the installation couldn't be easier.
I would highly recommend this approach. The entire rebuild can...
turn signals
The problem is very likely ground issues.
The turn signals ground to the fenders with the threaded post/nut. You can clean this contact point and/or add a ground wire from the threaded post to a separate ground point under the hood.

Remanufactured Saginaw Pump from NAPA
I have been running the mini truck conversion for four years. The NAPA part number for the Saginaw pump used is NSP-206800 (1976 2wd chevy pick up). I paid $55.00 at the time.
Good luck.
My 78 did exactly the same thing when I inadvertently drove with the transfer case in 4 high and the hubs unlocked. Loud clunk with right hand turns only.
Yes. The CCOT unit is just like the one I installed from SOR several years ago. Look closely at the pictures and you will see the identical 90 degree female spade plug configuration as Toyota used. Plugs right in and works fine.
Rick
The SOR and CCOT replacements are also available in any auto parts store. These do operate with the stock switch. Plugs right in. Both the container and pump are still available from Toyota.

I used the JTO PS kit last summer and had no issues. I used a PS gearbox from an '84 mini, and the high pressure line tightened up fine. Can't explain your issues.
I believe you can email JTO from their website. Not sure if they're open Saturdays, but I'd try giving them a call.
Good luck
