    Speedometer questions 91

My 1991 FJ80 also made a horrendous noise behind the speedo at around 145k miles. I disconnected the cable at the transfer case until I could get a replacement from Australia. It was obviously for a RHD TLC but it worked fine. I pulled apart the old one expecting it to be frayed or broken but it...

    1.3bar (18.85psi) Radiator Cap

I also have a LS engine in FJ80, the 6.0L LQ9, and it vents pressure using the OEM GM tank. I put this Koyo Racing SK-C13 cap on my LC replacement aluminum tank and it leaks. Not a lot, but it constantly has orange radiator fluid all around it. Anyone else found a better high pressure cap?

    Front wheel bearing replacement cost?

I've been tracking down a vibration/noise in the front of my '00 ever since I bought it (now at 89k miles.) Dealer said it was tire balance, but now are saying front wheel bearings. So...I've got another project on my hands. Seems my truck is a Hypochondriac. Every problem I read about on...

    Front wheel bearing replacement cost?

Just looking for verification on this. Dealer quoted me $700. Sounds rediculous, but I certainly don't want to do the job. Any others had a dealer or other technician replace front wheel bearings?

100 front end vibration / noise help needed

I'm alergic to dealers. My local dealer said it was tire balance and it obviously wasn't. Yeah, I know, I should keep trying to fix it myself. I test drove a 4Runner last weekend and was a little dissapointed in it, but not as much as the other 4x4s I've driven. I lowered the tire pressure...

100 front end vibration / noise help needed

I have to admit, I'm a bit tired of working on this truck, so I set the problem aside for a while. All I read is how smooth, quiet, reliable, and well built these are (Edmunds.com under consumer reviews) yet all I've found are problems. Expensive and/or frustrating problems. I wanted to drop...

100 front end vibration / noise help needed

I've been trying things to help narrow down the problem. Locking the center diff doesn't change the noise. Driving at a constant 45 MPH, where the noise is the most noticeable, if I turn off the O/D the noise goes away. Same speed (same tires, wheel bearings, shocks, etc.!) Nothing changes...

100 front end vibration / noise help needed

Yeah, it might be these tires. I've heard nothing but bad things about them! The PO had them installed before he sold the truck, so I'm stuck with them. I just spent a few hours looking at alternatives and am leaning toward Michelin LTX and the Bridgestone REVO, in 285/75-16. I'm assuming...

100 front end vibration / noise help needed

I hope someone out there has had this problem and can point me in the right direction: There is a slight high-frequency vibration in the front at 40+ MPH, felt the most at 45 MPH and 75 MPH. It oscillates; whaun, whaun, whaun. You can hear it and feel it. It is very evident through the floor...

    Replacing exhaust manifolds this weekend

I suppose it could be welded but there is no guarantee that the flange would still be perfectly flat when you're done. The best place to weld it would be on the outside of the flange, but this is where the holding plate nestles. Welding then grinding may work. Regardless, the manifolds alone...
