    Leaf spring removal?

I just removed mine. they were stuck, but not really bad. what I did was take a thin blade screwdriver and wedge it between the oval part and the frame bracket . once it was out just a bit I could grab the pin with a large pair of channel locks and wiggle the pin out.

    4/75 40. harsh ride

all good info, but I still would like an opinion on using square or tapered (flattened ends) springs. where did the square cut ones come off of and which might give a better ride. my fj is used primarily on the street. jim

    4/75 40. harsh ride

as some have suggested, I am pulling the second from the bottom leaf.. in prep I did this to a spare set of front springs. today I pulled one off the fj and noted that there were 7 tapered springs. on the set I cleaned and painted there were 5 tapered ones with the bottom two with square cut...

harsh ride, would spring removal help?

I have 4/75 fj40 with a sbc (200# lighter) and no top or regular doors-just tube doors and a bikini. the tires are 10.50-31 street Michelins. I have replaced the kyb gas-a-just shocks with the softest gabriels I could find. the ride is still pretty stiff. was wondering if removing some leaves...

    power steering boiling

thx mike. this thing is boiling! after a 20 mile trip in 68 weather, the pump was dry. my biggest concern is while idling, there will be no air passing over a non fan cooler. where can I find a pic of an install like you are talking about?

    power steering boiling

thx for your help. after looking at a bunch of trans coolers, I think I will buy a hayden 526. this has a fan which I think I will need since I don't have a mech fan anymore, just a Taurus, and it does not come on until the temp hits 185. also is smaller than the derailes I looked at. the...
