When I got our first LX I had the benefit of previously owning the LC and 4Runner. We did lots of traveling with the Previa minivan and LC, and the seat comfort in the LC was the best. As you described, a trip in the 4Runner >2hr became uncomfortable. This became a factor when considering the GX...
The Light Tan color matches best to my LX470 OEM Ivory seats. From the photos I thought sandstone might be better, but when I got the samples, the Light Tan was the best match. Choosing between genuine and nappa, the nappa texture appeared closest to OEM. I had three color samples sent. No...
Thanks for posting the work in progress. Sounds like you have the master key without the buttons, which means you can program the new keys without using a computer. The master looked similar to the valet key but was black instead of gray, and it will open the glove box. I have not found the...
That is significant rust. Move on, don’t consider it. There are many in much better shape on the market. Don’t be as concerned about mileage on the 100 as in maintenance, care, upkeep, and especially absence of rust. Those with little or no rust will have photos of the under carriage in their ads.
I have owned LC and LX, and AHC is a wonderful system. Great for loading up on trips and towing, because the AHC levels the load. The LC was also nice on the road, but loaded up the rear was low and handling was affected. LX was level and steady in handling. The AVS allowed adjusting the ride...
When I replaced the spark plugs as 120K in the 01LX the plugs were tight, appeared normal and only slightly worn. The miles were predominantly interstate travel. I installed the Denso SK20R11 plugs purchased at Toyota using the snug 1/4 turn approach. I did not notice any improved performance...
Excellent post and the various trials and descriptions add value. The only comment I have is that I close the bleeder valve when the flow starts to slow and before it stops - to prevent a back flow of air. With a clear drain tube, air moving upward is a clue to close the bleeder. Thanks for all...
Yes, prices have been going up. People like the 100s and now winter is coming on. My wife gets frequent comments from others about the LX including techs at the dealership who want first chance if we decide to sell it. Check the history of vehicles, especially with Lexus having records...
UGN, a full replacement of fluid in the reservoir is better than nothing, and if you lower the vehicle regularly upon stopping you are forcing additional circulation in the system as it will move back to N with each trip. That buys some time for a better solution. I would suggest purchasing...
If the LX accelerates well without the trailer attached, I would start looking at the trailer. Is it unusually heavy? Wheel lubrication or bad wheel bearing on the trailer? Does another vehicle also have difficulty with the trailer? If trailer is fine, then back to LX and I would look at things...
Both are very capable, the 02 will have a mechanical update to ATRAC from your 98 LC. The 06 likely is mostly highway mileage, so not a major deterrent on these SUVs if maintained properly. I am amazed at how well our 01 LX drives even in comparison to the 07. The 01 can run on 87 fuel, but...
With oem I did both sides of shim per FSM with no problems (many years). I have since started using PosiQuiet pads and they do not recommend grease on their pads/shims (clarified with their tech dept) with no issues either. It is best to follow mfg instructions.
The price seems a bit high but could be a fair price based on the condition of the LC. It appears to be very good and low mileage as well. The second set of wheels are nice. For normal driving I do not find the 5 spd (2003-07) of significance, but for mountain driving, off roading, towing the 5...
