Long time member there(#200s) and this thread is basically cut/paste from there ;) Oddly, I've never really had a bad roast over there :p I found that link on pirate and sadly most pictures were dead as were parts linked. It also looks like...

Pirate 4x4 may be a better place to search for info on rear steer. But have a good strong bourbon or two before you go on Pirate and say you're a newb

The pump I mention is a 'real' pump used for a steering system on a fullsized vehicle. So I'm not sure how slow they can be. Granted, a ram is a bit more than a PS box. But for my application, speed of turning isn't overly critical since it...
  • Lil'John
The electric pumps I have seen are very slow, maybe some are faster. I would call up PSC and see what they have to say. Maybe talk to a few rock bouncers, most of them run it.

Title basically states it. I searched found lots of discussion with little parts break down or newbie descriptions I have no real practical reason other than the axle I bought will work as is for rear steer(kingpin Dodge front 60 swapped for...

Found a dash picture: To the right of the NV4500 shift knob is a small pull knob then a large pull handle. Here is a close on what it looks like under the dash behind that pod: The cable is a mod I made. The black bracket that the cable...

That’s a fun fact I will try tomorrow. I’ve had my 1970 about 2 1/2 weeks and have not tried to engage either control while running

The shifter 'pattern' you note is for a fully complete NP203. An NP203 is a full time case. The 'Loc' noted in two of the positions puts it into 'real' 4wd. Since the only part you have is the gear reduction box, you will only have 'L-N-H'...

My version was a 'permanent' not permanent fix in place. Another option is figure out where the high range is and then shim the heck out of the detent spring. The detent spring is the large hex plug below the shifter shafts. Basically, just...
  • Lil'John
You might get lucky and it will stick. On my 55, I wasn't able to shim the detent enough to keep it in. Anything above 'mild' throttle would pop it out :(

Have I mentioned recently that I’m still a newbie? Evidence above! Sounds like I need a way of making sure it stays in high.
  • Lil'John
You do not want to leave it in neutral. It is 'neutral' same as a manual transmission. You want to leave it in high range and it is fine to leave it there. I'll see if I have a picture of what I did when I put the above blue NP203 into my...

I'm trying to remember the pictures from the ad. If I recall right, it was still mostly original so it will have a low hanging pod below the heater controls. There will be a knob labeled FD. This is four wheel drive knob. If the truck is...

I have several trucks so I am in most of the other mud forums on a regular basis. To me, the 55 Preservation forum is more of a community than the other forums. It's a laid back, relaxed, fun atmosphere. I think it has to do with the fact that...

could not resist this deal, original except front seat, and floor shift. 4 wheel drive handles on dash(a first for me) roof pretty rusty, the rest has rust, but ive had much worse. Gonna try to get running and just enjoy-plus came with extra hood...

My preference would be to find someone with a '68-'69 Pig where my grill is the only correct grill for that Pig... Failing that, I'll entertain others in need. I have faith that a perfect recipient will present itself in good time, 'Cruiser Karma...

New steel rims are about $100 each at Summit ;) In searching for 17" rims for 8x6.5, I have seen a LOT of 6 lugs near by.

Not so much want-to-trade but willing to trade... I had a wild idea yesterday, after getting my LED blinker to work and putting LEDs in my corners, "I oughta wire in these marker lamps on the grill". Then I thought "I'm not gonna cut and drill...

Your list looks correct for what I did on my old FJ40. NPT to metric adapter for oil and water temp. I don't recall where I got the adapters 20 years ago ;) Longer speedo. No change to gas gauge unless you are running something else. Amp...
  • Lil'John
I don't recall. It is also dependent upon if the bracket is upward or downward ;)
  • Lil'John
There is a neutral. There are actually two tabs/brackets that attach to the shifter shafts. The one closest to the case in normal use would be for 2wd-4wd. As a doubler, you should have it there to prevent both shafts from falling into the NP203.
  • Lil'John
Yup... the 'inner' part is the hi-low switch. If you don't have the tab for that, I think I can dig one out of my bolt Tupperware to send to you :p
