With a NPT tap and a NPT brass plug or pipe plug, just hand tight would seal it from an exhaust leak? I have a JimC plug on my EGR block of and I have zero issue with not sealant on it. I would think maybe with the temperature swing from hot to cold would loosen it. But I don't have that...
Yeah I have put that stuff on the threads of the plug. I would assume the same on the plug just sealing based on the taper. might ba a dumb question. can you weld brass to cast? or would I use the black steal plugs? I will shoot some pics
Any body have any new ideas? I have put multiple brass fitting with multiple compounds, sealers, thread lock, brass fitting, black steel, they all keep backing out. I fear if I tighten to tight it will crack the manifold.
So pull the Trans to see if anything looks funky? Then run motor to see if the noise still is there? have you pulled belts off one my one to see if the noise stops? and I think you did the pull each plug wire method, and no change?
Mine is very prevalent Cold and at about 1K rpm. LCNW said if it was the rear main bearing that you could see movement on the fan up front under load. not sure if that eliminates that or not and with the "NO METAL" in the oil filter.

Ok I got the manifold drilled out and tapped. the issue I have not is the plugs that I have in there (brass pipe thread) deep backing out and loosening? I tried NPT plugs same issue. with some High temp RTV and with out. Anybody have any ideas.
