    UWDave's 1fz Replacement

What he said. Once the ecm memory has been lost, it'll take a bit to restore all the proper settings, and in the meantime the engine runs kinda rough. Drive it around a little bit and it should smooth out a lot. Congratulations! ;p

    Radiator -- aftermarket or OEM

Koyo radiator. Not just similar, but identical, except for the little tag that says "Toyota".

    Radiator -- aftermarket or OEM

this is a good option if you're not keeping your truck beyond maybe 5 years or so. There are just way too many reports of those CSF radiators failing after a relatively short time. For the money, if you've got an OEM brass-core radiator, you can't beat the value of putting new tanks on the...

    Radiator -- aftermarket or OEM

i recently had my rad done by a radiator shop, they replaced the tanks and rodded out the core (copper/brass core) and it's as good as new OEM. Cost was under $200. That was me removing and replacing the radiator. This is a good option if your radiator is copper/brass as opposed to the...

I would strongly recommend you wait for comfirmation. If it's connected to the ECU, and you connect it to the wrong terminal, you may cause some very expensive damage. Be patient. ;)

    '97 FZJ80 rear elocker motor ??'s

this is a long shot, but maybe worth it. There's a guy on this board that sells the plastic gears and buttons that break inside the seat mechanisms. Obviously, he's got a source somewhere. Perhaps you could email him and see if he would contact his source to see if they might have the...

    Quick question

whatever direction the rotor spins, if you turn the distributor housing in the opposite direction, it will advance the timing. turn in the same direction will retard it.

80 vs 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

"Wonder if I'd violate any laws if I mounted what would essentially be a 10 foot lance out of the trailer hitch aimed at eye level of following vehicles. I'd dutifully put a red flag on the tip like when carrying lumber, etc. Make it out of thick walled steel pipe and weld a cap on it so it...

    UWDave's 1fz Replacement

you can (and should) replace the rear main seal with the oil pans installed. you might want to consider replacing the transmission front main seal, while you're in there. It's pretty easy to do.

80 vs 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I agree. Consider those crash tests that you see on TV all the time, conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, are all conducted at around 35 MPH. The damage is WAY more than what is shown on this thread. Of course those are corner impacts, so the force is concentrated in the...

80 vs 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

look at the bright side. You've got a better departure angle now! :grinpimp::grinpimp: Seriously, you gotta get the frame looked at by a good competent frame shop with all the latest (laser) technology. It's not that hard to buckle the frame a little bit, if the impact is at the wrong spot.

i need help from all you gurus

One thing I haven't seen mentioned in this thread, but has been mentioned in other threads where the engine was running crappy: the wiring harness has two spots that tend to get worn. Under the hood, it is routed near the EGR tube and can burn through and short out, causing crazy stuff to...

Video about how to make a complete transmission flush

there's one minor error. He should have blown the fluid back into the transmission while he was still draining it. Now he's pushed the dirty fluid from the cooler back into the transmission pan after he added new fluid. What I do is disconnect the cooler at the return line (not the...
