About 2.5 inches. The biggest difference is the ride quality though. Looks better, rides better, hard to beat.

As far as the rebuild goes, the original owner loaned it to his daughter.... and she drove around for a week with the low oil light on and a leaky front seal. Still ran like a top, but it was knocking. Total of around 165000 on chassis, had odometer replaced at 155ish. ODO reads 13000 or so now...
