I suspect you need to recurve your dizzy to account for the lack of EGR, but I'm not sure how much impact that would have on an EFI conversion.
I actually need to ship my dizzy off to Jim to be recurved for my EFI build.
Hah! I have no plans to cut on it or radically modify it, but I do plan to build it a bit for the purpose of using it.
I grew up in it, and now that I have my own children, I want them to experience the outdoors in it as well.
I'm currently experimenting with eletrolytic rust removal from all...
While that is probably the rational decision, it is an all original truck with only 43k miles on it that has sentimental value to me.
And I've already bought most of the parts, and have stuff sent out for machining already like manifolds.
Hah! Definitely feels like I'm in the trap already?
Is it easier to pull the engine/tranny together? I'm working on the ground, but I have high lift jack stands that can get it about 2 feet off the ground.
So I'm slowly going through my 83 after it sat for a decade+, replacing all the rubber I can find, and addressing issues as I find them. Doing a bit of a half-ass resto as I go.
I pretty much have the entire engine bay disassembled, with all of the accessories and fan/clutch/water-pump off, as...
Looks good! Remember that products like Chassis Saver actually prefer a little surface rust to a completely bare metal sanded surface.
*Edit: Looks like this happened a while ago. I'm right in the middle of this project on my rig. Looks like you addressed a lot of the areas I'm trying to get...
Pretty much everything was coated in a fine, dust like coating of surface flash rust. Nothing looked deep though, and the tank was replaced in the late 90's under the recall.
I'll have to drain it and see how effective the electrolysis has been in removing all the rust.
So my truck sat for a few years, and upon getting it out of storage it appears that it was put away with very little fuel in the tank and there was a good amount of surface rust inside.
I currently have the tank soaking in an electrolysis bath to remove the surface rust from inside, and I plan...
So I didn't rent a Hotsy, but I did manage to run a hose from the laundry room hot water line to the pressure washer, and wow what a difference! Hot water is the way!
I'm using a foam cannon loaded with a mix of Dawn, purple power, and car soap, and the hot water suds being blown into every...
