If you are just doing the headgasket it's easy enough to do in the truck. I wouldn't bother pulling the engine, it's not worth the extra labor. I have used Wells Racing for a bunch of engine work and they are fantastic.

Dec/70 is stamped is stamped on the vin plate. The vacuum switch is the later model.
Of the two pictured cables the trashed one is the one I believe I pulled off, the other one is a replacment I ordered. I can't figure out where either of them is supposed to go /facepalm

I would do two things next:
1. Check for vacuum leaks...
Mark, Are you sure? I wouldn't say it runs well or at all really. It leaks a fair amount around the throttle shaft.
I replaced it with a trollhole carb and it now i'm in the process of planning a megasquirt install.
