I think that American Toyota in Albuquerque are still carrying on with the discounts for ih8mud'ers. Beno (Onur) is also retired.

Give American Toyota a call and tell them you are with ih8mud.
Did a head gasket job (preventative and theraputic maintenance) on my 97 LX450 about 7 years ago. The scan guage indicated a drop in temperature from 186°F to 179°F with normal conditions by just doing that. Give it a shot.
Thanks for the link. Great information.
I will likely get an RCI skid plate. The stock plate is weak and has to get removed for oil filter cartridge changes.
When the FJ100 was written off 6 months ago, we looked at the GX460 and the LX570. The 570 was really nice but what sold us on the GX was the better mpg's and all of the LX's available were more $$$ with higher mileage.
Really happy with the GX.
Had two sets of Firestone Destination ATs; one on the '97 FJ80 and another on the 2000 FJ100. Also tried the Goodyear Duratracs later in the FJ100.
The Firestone ATs were way better in all respects. New Denstination ATs are going on the FJ150.
I had the same issue. I kept on looking for hard rubber bushings but had a bugger of a time finding anything. I went to Harbor Freight and bought some hard rubber grommet like cylinders that had a hole down the middle but the right diameter. These were too long so I cut them like one would a...
Get a reman'd unit from Cruiser Dan at American Toyota in Albuquerque. I did my last one about five years ago - not very difficult.
I have to do another one of these next week in a similar unit I have (an '03 LS 430) and it looks very much the same.
Just sold mine yesterday for $3500 with 240k miles. Sad to see it go but it will be used in Haiti - more like a retirement home for the pink panties crowd.
Have you tried to give the starer a rap with a wooden broom handle / hammer handle as it was being started? It could a bad starter contact connection (that worked for me once). The other was to have someone try to start the truck while another wiggle the battery cables (again, that worked for me...
Mine did the same every time it was about a quart down probably due to an old tired head with leaky valve seals. The light came on every 300 miles or so and I carried a spare quart of oil in the battery compartment. I put in a new head gasket last summer along with new valve seals. The truck has...
Ratcheting box end wrenches (like these : 7 pc. Standard Full Polish Ratcheting Flex Head Combination Wrench Set- GearWrench-Tools-Auto & Mechanics Tools-Wrenches ) to get at some intake manifold studs next to the fire wall, lots of extensions, a wobble extension, heat shield tubing for the main...
Once a cap is off, place the opposite cap onto a larger socket and tap the exposed rod (where the first cap used to be) down into the larger socket. The opposite cap will be able to slide out into the open large socket while the edges of the socket support the U-joint body.
When done that side...
