The 40 is gone and these parts need to go too! Scrap or Sell?

That's why I'm here! I transitioned into vintage motorcycles years ago.. I can fit more of them in my garage.. the 40 was too damn nice to drive and that just made no sense. Now some guy in Florida has it and hopefully is enjoying it. Anyway.. I have trouble getting rid of parts if I think...

The 40 is gone and these parts need to go too! Scrap or Sell?

The truck was sold 6 years ago but I've still got a few parts lying around. Could someone tell me whether these are worth listing or if they're just worthless junk? First off I've got a set of original gray door panels with these funky little metal tabs on the back. (Nice condition, no speaker...

Back at it.. fresh plugs are already fouled!

Just tossing this out there for you guys. Truck didn't fetch reserve on ebay so I wanted to offer it up here before a re-list. I just moved and am starting a new business and don't have much time to squeeze a few extra pennies out of this thing. She's one beautiful rig and her new owner will be...

Back at it.. fresh plugs are already fouled!

I'll take some photos this afternoon. The choke doesn't appear to be hanging up as it actuates in and out fine. The roughness of the engine doesn't vary with choke position though which has me wondering if there could be a vacuum leak. I assumed the plugs were fuel fouled as the engine sounds...

Back at it.. fresh plugs are already fouled!

Hey guys, After my nightmare oil change I thought I was back in business. I had solved the gauge issue, replaced the plugs and she was idling beautifully until I took her out for a test drive. After the test drive, while she was still idling, it sounded a little rough. I figured I'd fiddle...

Took my 40 in for an oil change, and now it's a MESS!

Okay, so it sounds like the oil pressure thing isn't an issue and I'm just paranoid now. My bikes have an air screw which either enriches or leans out the mixture. Most carbs follow the "lean in rich out" design but before I start tinkering, I'd love to some input. I honestly don't even know...

Took my 40 in for an oil change, and now it's a MESS!

Hey guys, busy week here moving and no time to play with the 40. I finally got back down to the garage Saturday afternoon and wanted to give you an update. After spinning all the fuses in their housings, the gauges all came back. I can't be certain that was the culprit as I went over the...

Took my 40 in for an oil change, and now it's a MESS!

Hey guys, some good news. I called the shop today when they opened up to communicate my frustrations and inquire as to whether there could've been some mistake concerning my $140 oil fee. He admitted that he messed up and charged the $140 instead of $40. He couldn't provide much insight though...

Took my 40 in for an oil change, and now it's a MESS!

Appreciate all the input and suggestions guys. As per the vacuum lines, I forgot to mention my rig has been de-smogged years ago and most of that equipment has been removed aside from a few bits and pieces necessary to keep other parts running. The truck has also had the AC removed so there are...

Took my 40 in for an oil change, and now it's a MESS!

Unfortunately I didn't take note of the mileage as I wouldn't expect them to take the truck for a test drive after an oil change. 3 Pups, I like where your head's at. I did locate (1) small black box that flipped open like a tiny briefcase revealing two fuses, both of which were good, but I...

Took my 40 in for an oil change, and now it's a MESS!

So first off in looking over my bill they charged me $136.36 for "quantity 7 Rotella 10W - 30. I had offered to bring my own jug as I can get it at advanced auto for $35, but the guy on the phone said don't bother we got it. Incidentally, I had asked for 10W - 40. I don't drive this thing in...

Took my 40 in for an oil change, and now it's a MESS!

Hey fellas! It's been a long long time since I posted here with any regularity. Hell it's been a while since I posted at all. My interests have wandered away from vintage Toyota's and for the past 5 years I've been riding and restoring vintage motorcycles. I bought my 82 FJ 40 about a decade ago...
