    Do you have rear abs brakes? speed sensors in newer models will cause speedometer issues. I dont remember if 85 had abs or not.

    You can also try to siphon gas through the line to check for blockage or tube issues.

    My guess is the pick up tube is rusted and has holes in it or is to short now to reach the gas? try a gas can like stated earlier.

    Running on like that sound like timing out of adjustment to me, I would start there.

    If it was me I would take the top and doors off, and repalce or repair it in the fall before I put the top back on. You could also just take off the doors.

    Sounds like a head gasket to me, it would be prettty tough to get that much condensation between Jan and now?
