well the PO had a metal hose made when they fitted the 4 speed into the 67- so the hose cannot expand. But thats not to say the MC or slave is not malfunctioning so i will pull the slave and get the pushrod freed up so i can adjust to spec-

when you advance the timing the to where is smoothes out- what happens if you then decrease your idle screw down to the 650 rpm range?
my thought is as you advance the dist the mechanical advance is further increasing it- when you pull those rpms down the timing might get closer than you think-
